In June, in partnership with our co-sponsors FloQast, we proudly launched the first event in a new series designed to explore the evolving role of the Finance Operating Partner within the Private Equity landscape.
The inaugural session welcomed a brilliant cross-section of professionals from leading firms including BC Partners, Nordic Capital, H.I.G. Capital, TA Associates, Astorg, Bowmark Capital, Mayfair Equity Partners LLP and Generation Investment Management. The premise of the series is simple but powerful: to create an informal and collaborative space where Finance Operating Partners can come together to share insight, discuss challenges, and help shape best practice around a role that is becoming increasingly strategic and nuanced.
With no universal blueprint, the Finance Operating Partner role continues to evolve - and often differs significantly between funds. Our discussions explored this fluidity in depth, with attendees reflecting on what the role looks like in practice: from building credibility with portfolio CFOs, aligning with investment teams, and rolling up sleeves on tactical projects, to maintaining a long-term, value-focused perspective.
Key talking points included the increasing turnover of portfolio CFOs, the growing pressures around reporting and compliance, the role of automation and AI in streamlining finance functions, and the constant expectation to deliver impact early and often. Participants were generous in sharing how they are navigating these challenges - including practical lessons, proven frameworks, and common pitfalls to avoid.
This first session set the tone for what we hope will be an ongoing forum for candid conversation, where finance professionals in PE can learn from each other and collectively raise the bar for the function.
Greco Advisors looks forward to building on the success of this first gathering and continuing to support the evolution of the Office of the CFO through future events in the series.
