This week, Greco Advisors welcomed senior leaders in value creation from leading large-cap Private Equity funds to our latest Operating Partner Breakfast, hosted by Dickon Cole and Tom Shores. The breakfast provided an opportunity not only to connect and exchange views but also to explore a topic of increasing importance in today’s market: how to consistently ensure the success of the Chief Transformation Officer (CTrO).

Drawing on years of collective experience, attendees shared their perspectives on how funds can conceptualise and successfully deploy transformation talent. Key points of discussion included:

  • CEO buy-in from the outset - setting expectations during the deal process that a CTrO hire is fundamental to a CEO’s long-term success.

  • Tailoring the role to the context - understanding whether a portfolio company needs a strategic sparring partner or a hands-on ‘doer’, rather than simply matching by sector expertise or seniority.

  • Reusability of CTrO talent - assessing how realistic it is to redeploy transformation officers across different portfolio companies, sectors, and geographies.

  • Leveraging leadership assessments - using robust tools to select the right transformation talent while safeguarding management team harmony.

The discussion highlighted the evolving expectations of transformation leaders and the vital role they play in delivering value creation in today’s environment.

Greco Advisors would like to thank all who attended for their time, insights and contributions. We look forward to continuing these conversations at future events.
